The BVRI is one and the only postgraduate college of its kind in U.P. Its origin, its objectives and its courses are different and distinct. We aim at an agile pursuit of academics and all round development of the youth which can respond positively to the demands of our changing society, yet family upholding the Indian ethos, culture and moral values and having a special orientation and concern for rural India which constitutes 70% of our country


Balwant Vidyapeeth Rural Institute was founded in the year 1956 with the sponsorship of Ministry of education. Government of India following the recommendations of the University Education Commission. 1948-49 and of the Committee on Higher Education for rural areas 1955. The Institute functioned as such under the auspices of the National Council for Rural Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India till its affiliation with Agra University (presently Dr. B. R. A. University, Agra) Balwant Vidyapeeth Rural Institute (BVRI) functions as an affiliated Institute of Dr. B.R.A. University, Agra w.e.f. July 1971.


A large percentage of population of India still lives in villages. The rural youths are with drawing from their village–lives and migrating to urban areas for higher education. The Poverty and the cultural background of this population is a common knowledge. In order to arrest the migration, the Rural Institute was established to provide better and comparable education opportunities.


As usual the Founder’s Day was celebrated in the Institute on 21st September, 2007 with fun and gaiety. Havan was arranged on that day and the main building of the Institute was illuminated with coloured lights on the auspicious occasion.
